[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Sitting here in my office at Magoebaskloof Getaway, I look out at the majestic mountain rising above me and think about the beautiful wedding we had at Eden’s Gate in Magoebaskloof, last Saturday. It was like a fairy-tale wedding with the beautiful dams in front of it and the mountains and forests surrounding it.
Magoebaskloof is one of those little-known gems which still has to be discovered by so many people. So many times guests arrive and say that they have never been here before and that they did not know how beautiful it is here. The beauty in Magoebaskloof almost takes your breath away.
There are so many amazing B&B’s in Magoebaskloof. Each one with its own special flavour. One is hard pressed to decide where to stay, not to even mention our wedding venues. It all depends on what you would like. I sometimes feel it’s like being in a chocolate factory – you don’t know what to choose.
Then you get the question, “What is there to do here in Magoebaskloof?” I almost want to laugh because I know that at the end of their stay they are going to complain that the have not had enough time to do everything. There are mountains to climb, rivers to cross and people to meet.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”501″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”504″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Haenertsburg, the nearest village to Magoebaskloof, has its own magic. The people who live there are probably the most friendly and helpful people you will ever meet. The shops and eateries, are all amazing – you are hard pressed to choose. Only in Magoebaskloof will you find such an amazing village.
As for what to do when you get to Magoebaskloof? How much time do you have? Magoebaskloof is one of the few places that can virtually cater for everyone’s taste. There are countless mountain trails, waterfalls, forests, rivers not to mention our fairs which bring people from all over the country and also the world to come and enjoy the fairs which are held in Magoebaskloof. For those who want to be pampered, we even have spas.
Another plus for Magoebaskloof is that a number of the guest houses and B&B’s allow you to bring your beloved dogs with you – no need to worry about them having to stay alone at home. The amazing thing to me, is that when the dog gets here at Magoebaskloof Getaway, they never pick up a fight with any of the resident cogs or even the other guests’ dogs. They all have a great time.
Watch this space, you are going to find out much more about the place closest to heaven, called Magoebaskloof.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Well here we are into 2019! What will this year hold for us?
I am sitting here thinking about all the things that happened and all the guests who came and visited us. We are so fortunate in having so many lovely guests – sometimes I feel as if they are family. I wonder how the rest of their year went and what 2019 holds for them. Each year brings its own challenges and victories. I wonder what this year holds for us all.
I am sitting here looking out of my office over the mountain. It is so green and lush that feel as if my eyes cannot cope with this beauty. The dams are full and, much to my amazement, one of my guests caught two enormous Carp. If I had not seen the photos, I would have thought it was a fisherman’s story!!! They both weighed about 13kgs. I did not realize that we had such enormous fish in our dams. I know there is a lot of fish swimming around in both the dams – but it never struck me that they could be so big.
It’s strange how you take things for granted. I sometimes forget how peaceful it is down here, until one of my guests reminds me. The only noise which some guests find irritating – I on the other hand love it – is when the frogs are mating. Their incessant croaking can become a nuisance – but it is all part of being in the great outdoors.
The trail up the mountain remains a worthwhile challenge. It is so steep, but that is of no importance compared to the beauty in the forest. The waterfalls are in full flow at the moment as we have had a lot of rain. Just hearing them flowing over the rocks is music to the ears. How can anyone not find it beautiful?
